CADsmit — Free Autodesk Inventor 2027 course
A free Autodesk Inventor 2027 course for engineering students: 12 lectures in order, from your first sketch to a fully dimensioned DIN drawing. Every lecture has a video, a written step-by-step lesson, a practice exercise and a 5-question quiz. The course player saves your progress in your browser, with no account needed.
Unit 01 — Getting started
- Introduction to Inventor 2027 (10:37): Templates, IPT vs. STEP, origin planes and the ViewCube, then sketch and extrude your first cylinder.
Unit 02 — Sketching and constraints
- Understanding constraints (Part 1) (14:27): A centred plate with four holes, dimensioned until the status bar says Fully Constrained.
- Tangent, parallel & concentric (Part 2) (14:32): Inscribed vs. circumscribed polygons, degrees of freedom and relationship constraints.
Unit 03 — Part modelling
- Rectangular pattern, shared sketches & mirror (14:10): Pattern hundreds of shapes, extrude one sketch twice and mirror about an offset plane.
- Practice exercise: Lever handle (12:00): Model a lever handle from a drawing using circles, tangents, trim and fillet.
- Circular pattern, chamfer & thread (16:41): The curve part: slot outlines, circular pattern, chamfers and M10 × 1.25 threads.
- Curved Disk: Project Geometry & cylinder cuts (15:20): Aligned dimensions, sketching on a face, Project Geometry and patterned cut slots.
Unit 04 — Sheet metal
- Sheet metal bracket (17:48): Face, flanges, unfold/refold, corner round, double hem and the flat pattern.
Unit 05 — Assemblies
- Place, rotate & ground parts (18:57): Assembly files, degrees of freedom, grounding, Mate vs. Flush and axis alignment.
- Motion constraint, Content Center & Insert (21:34): Rotation-rotation motion, DIN 912 screws from the Content Center and the Insert constraint.
Unit 06 — Drawings
- Base, isometric & section view (14:58): A4 DIN sheet, title block, drawing scale, base and isometric views and section A-A.
- Center marks, hole notes & dimensions (16:26): Center marks, Center Pattern, feature notes, DIN dimension styles and tolerances.
